twine makes it easy for Zoom hosts to create connection by enabling advanced breakout rooms and speed networking.

As a host, you want to ensure that your meeting participants feel prepared to use twine for Zoom during your meeting. Here are a few helpful tips to set up your event for success.

  1. Ensure attendees are on the latest version of Zoom

It is important that your attendees are using v. 5.12.0 of Zoom. This version allows you to invite participants to use the app even if they do not have it downloaded.

Updating All Guests to v. 5.12.0
You can ensure that your guests are on the latest version of Zoom by requiring them to update their Zoom version prior to joining your meeting. This is a setting that your Zoom admin can turn on.

To enable this setting, have your Zoom administrator follow these steps:

    • Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin to edit account settings.

    • In the navigation panel, click Account Management then Account Settings.

    • Click the Meeting tab.

    • Under Admin Options, turn on "Require users to update the client"

    • Specify the required minimum version for each client or app (5.12.0)

    • If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it.

    • If a verification dialog displays, click Enable to verify the change.

  2. Send out Instructions to Attendees

Send out the following email to all your attendees before the event:

We are excited to be using a new app called twine for Zoom for our upcoming event! In order to ensure you have the best experience, please make note of the following details:

    • DOWNLOAD: Please download the twine for Zoom app prior to the meeting here. If the prompt says "Request to Add", submit the request to your Zoom admin to download the app. Alternatively, sign in using a personal Zoom account to download the app.

    • DESKTOP: Ensure you join the meeting from the Zoom desktop client, if possible. Although you'll still be able to participate in the meeting from the web client or mobile, the experience will be best from the desktop app.
